NT: Hendeson denies leadership an issue

The Northern Territory's Chief Minister has denied his leadership is to blame for a
strong voter rebuke at the polls.

PAUL HENDERSON's declined to claim victory today .. with counting of Saturday's shock
election results to continue throughout the week.

But he's acknowledged it's very likely Labor will see out a third term with a one seat majority.

Opposition Leader TERRY MILLS conceded defeat late yesterday when it became clear Labor
would win Fannie Bay .. vacated by former Chief Minister CLARE MARTIN this election.

Mr HENDERSON says he doesn't feel it was a mistake to take over the leadership from
Ms MARTIN last November.

He says he thinks Labor's voter base was cranky at the government for a number of reasons
.. but he stands by his decision to call an early election.
