FED: 55 boat blast witnesses interviewed so far, police
Northern Territory police have finished interviewing 55 witnesses to last week's fatal
explosion on a boat carrying asylum seekers.
A total of 51 Australian Defence Force personnel have been interviewed .. as well as
four of the 47 asylum seekers and two crew who were aboard when a blast and fire sunk
the boat off Ashmore Reef off northern Australia last Thursday .. killing five people
and injuring dozens more.
NT Police Acting Commander PETER BRAVOS says another detainee will be interviewed later
today at the Department of Immigration and Citizenship detention centre at Berrimah.
The cause of the explosion remains unknown with a large number of people yet to be
interviewed .. more images yet to be assessed and more evidence yet to be examined.
